Odorization Unit & PE Pipeline: Quwairah Industrial City
Client: Egypt Gas Co.
Methods: RT, PT, MT
For the Quwairah Industrial City infrastructure, Synergy provided specialized NDT services for the installation of the Odorization Unit and the associated high-pressure pipeline network. Because natural gas is naturally odorless, the integrity of the odorization injection system is a critical safety requirement for leak detection in industrial and urban environments.
The Technical Execution
Our team managed the quality validation for both the mechanical injection unit and the structural transition points:
* Volumetric & Surface Integrity (RT & MT): We utilized Radiographic Testing (RT) to verify the internal soundness of all pressure-retaining welds within the odorization skid. This was supported by Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) to ensure that structural supports and carbon steel joints were free from surface fatigue or stress cracking.
* Component Validation (PT): Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) was deployed on stainless steel fittings and injection nozzles to ensure leak-proof seals at high-sensitivity connection points where the odorant (mercaptan) is introduced into the gas stream.
The Result
Synergy’s rigorous inspection of the Quwairah Odorization Unit ensured that the system was fully compliant with national gas safety protocols. By certifying the integrity of the injection infrastructure, we provided Egypt Gas with the technical assurance needed to safely energize the industrial city's gas network.
