NEOM Coast Guard Building
Client: Al Fahd Company Trading, Industries and Contracting
For the NEOM Coast Guard facility, Synergy acted as the Third-Party Inspection (TPI) authority to ensure the structural and aesthetic integrity of the building’s steel framework. Given its coastal location, the project faced high salinity and humidity, making the durability of both the welds and the protective coatings a mission-critical priority.
The Technical Edge: Structural & Environmental Shielding
Our oversight was divided into two critical phases to guarantee long-term performance in a harsh marine environment:
* Welding Integrity (TPI): We provided continuous monitoring of structural steel fabrication, ensuring that all weld profiles, penetration levels, and joint alignments met the rigorous architectural standards of the NEOM development. Every weld was verified for structural soundness to withstand high-velocity coastal winds and structural loads.
* Painting & Coating Inspection: To prevent the rapid onset of "coastal corrosion," we performed detailed audits of the protective coating systems. This included monitoring surface preparation (blasting profile), measuring Dry Film Thickness (DFT), and conducting adhesion tests to ensure the paint system would act as a permanent barrier against salt-laden air.
The Result:
By enforcing strict compliance with both welding and coating specifications, Synergy provided the client with a building built for permanence. Our TPI services ensured that the NEOM Coast Guard facility is not only structurally robust but also environmentally resilient, significantly reducing future maintenance costs and protecting the asset from the aggressive Red Sea climate.
