JGPT Capacity Enhancement: Arab Gas Pipeline
Client: Egypt Gas Co.
Methods: RT, PT, UT, MT, VT
As part of the strategic enhancement of the Arab Gas Pipeline, Synergy provided comprehensive NDT and quality assurance services to support increased flow capacities. Working on a trans-national energy artery requires zero-tolerance for defects, as the infrastructure must handle higher pressures and throughput volumes to meet regional energy demands.
The Technical Edge: High-Pressure System Validation
Our team executed a multi-method inspection strategy to certify the integrity of new tie-ins, manifolds, and pipeline segments:
* Volumetric Inspection (RT & UT): We utilized Radiographic Testing (RT) for the primary certification of girth welds, ensuring a clear internal record of weld quality. This was supplemented by Ultrasonic Testing (UT) to provide deep-material scans of thicker flange connections and high-stress fittings.
* Surface Integrity (MT & PT): * Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) was deployed on ferromagnetic structural and pressure-retaining welds to detect near-surface discontinuities.
* Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) was used for non-ferromagnetic components and precision surface validation of critical joint faces.
* Visual Testing (VT): Our inspectors maintained a constant presence for VT, auditing the alignment, fit-up, and final weld profiles to ensure they met the rigorous API and ASME standards required for the Arab Gas Pipeline.
The Result:
Synergy’s rigorous oversight ensured that the JGPT Enhancement Project met all international safety and performance benchmarks. By delivering a fully validated and "fit-for-service" system, we helped Egypt Gas Co. successfully increase the pipeline's capacity while maintaining the highest levels of environmental safety and operational reliability.
