Quwairah Industrial Area: Reduction & Metering Station
Client: Egypt Gas Co. / Ministry of Energy
Methods: RT, PT, MT, UT
For the Quwairah Industrial Area infrastructure project, Synergy provided specialized NDT services for the construction of the natural gas pressure reduction and metering station. This facility acts as the critical gateway for industrial energy supply, requiring absolute precision to manage the transition from high-pressure transmission to regulated industrial distribution.
The Technical Edge: Precision Under Pressure
Because metering stations involve complex piping geometries and high-pressure differentials, our team deployed a full NDT suite to ensure total system integrity:
* Volumetric Certification (RT & UT): We utilized Radiographic Testing (RT) for 100% volumetric validation of the critical pressure-retaining welds. This was complemented by Ultrasonic Testing (UT) to scan for internal laminations and weld defects in heavy-wall fittings and manifolds.
* Surface Integrity (MT & PT): Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) was used to detect surface and near-surface cracks in the station’s structural steel, while Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) provided high-sensitivity verification of joint faces and non-ferrous components.
The Result
Our comprehensive inspection regime guaranteed that the Quwairah Station was fully compliant with international gas safety standards. By identifying and resolving potential structural vulnerabilities during the fabrication phase, Synergy ensured a safe and reliable energy supply for the industrial area’s future tenants.
